Vintage Military Vehicles at Firepower
Home

This small website is dedicated to provide photographs and interesting additional information for those interested in Vintage Military Vehicles.

On a number of specified weekends throughout the year Firepower, The Royal Artillery Museum in South East London, host the attendance of privately owned vehicles formerly used by the Armed Forces, many former artillery vehicles.

Annually the weekend of the February School half term is one such event, and later in the year vehicles visit for special activities, such as firing a Royal Salute.  Details can be obtained from the main web site   www.firepower.org.uk

A major supplier of vehicles and displays is The Garrison, based in Tilbury Fort, Essex www.thegarrison.org.uk and the Invicta Military Vehicle Preservation Society (IMPS) www.imps.org.uk

If you have a preserved military vehicle, of any period, and would like to attend a future show, please contact us at:

firepowervintagevehicles@zoomshare.com

Remember the last vehicle weekend in  February 2008 saw 40 vehicles draw up outside Firepower in glorious summer like weather.  We had a grand time. and this is illustrated in the photographs.  The oldest operational vehicle on our Parade is now from 1929!  It is probably unlikely to be called back into active service!

Next Military Vehicle Weekend is

planned for  February 2010

ENTRY FORM BELOW

Firepower invite you and your vehicle to come and be displayed for the benefit of the public and in support of the special weekend display and the live operation of the Vintage  Military Radio Station GB2RA.

The museum Quad and limber will join in with rides around the area. Anybody offering a display is welcome. Please let us know what you can offer by email or by completing the application form below. There is NO ENTRY COST.

There will be a live signals display using a special Amateur Radio Call Sign GB2RA operated by members of the Vintage Operating Group(Amateur Radio call sign M0VOG) with both Vintage Military Radio and may be some slightly more modern Amateur Kit.

A Saturday evening indoor (Or outside if a warm spell is around) BBQ is planned, costs shared, with a LARGE SCREEN showing of some archive film of interest to military vehicle owners.

Secured overnight vehicle storage facilities will be available and indoor DiY accommodation in the former Military Academy Building is planned.  Bring your own food, or share ours, for the Saturday evening BBQ.  Facilities will be available on Friday evening and for Breakfast on both days, or you can use market cafe 200 yards away.

This is the “first in Season” rally at an unusual time with warm accommodation provided.  Remember 2006/7 and 2008?– well the museum still holds the actual guns, from which the VC metal was cut and you can view these.. All your family are welcome, there is a leisure centre close by, as is the Woolwich Free Ferry, if they want something else and different to do.

Please aim to arrive by 10am Saturday (come Friday evening if preferred) depart 3pm Sunday.

Families welcome – Caravans welcome, so long as they are booked in advance.
